Dr. Leticia Villarreal Sosa was an invited plenary speaker at the International Conference on Children and Youth Work Practice November 15-16, 2016 in Singapore.

Dr. Leticia Villarreal Sosa and SSW graduate, Chrisann Caliendo presented a workshop at the Illinois Association of School Social Workers annual conference this October, entitled “Promoting Equity and Inclusive Schools: Working with Immigrant Parents and Students.”

Dr. Charlie Stoops Appointed Faculty Associate with the Catholics for Family Peace Education and Research Initiative

Dr. Charlie Stoops has been appointed as a Faculty Associate with the Catholics For Family Peace Education and Research Initiative (Family Peace).

Catholics For Family Peace Education and Research Initiative is part of the National Catholic School of Social Service’s Consortium for Catholic Social Teaching at the Catholic University of America.
They aim to inform the Catholic community on ways to promote family peace and to prevent and respond to domestic abuse and to provide resources and promote prayer for all families. Their initiative provides education, resources, and research that help pastoral leaders, clergy, and parishioners recognize domestic abuse and respond with compassion.

Dr. Joyce Shim Named Fulbright Specialist

Dr. Joyce Shim is named as a Fulbright Specialist. She will be considered for project requests from our international partners that require her expertise and the Fulbright will support Dr. Shim’s international travel expenses and per diem for her work.

In her application, Dr. Shim noted that the "Fulbright Specialist Program connects scholars around the world to share their expertise and support cross-national collaborations that benefit not only the scholars and educators themselves but also the families and communities they serve. In that light, I believe that my teaching and research interests and expertise may contribute to the program’s mission.

Dr. Joyce Shim selected as member 19th Future Leader's Conference

Dr. Joyce Shim has been selected by the Overseas Koreans Foundation to be a member of the 19th Future Leaders’ Conference . This was an internationally competitive selection process and the opportunity came from Dr. Shim’s participation last year in the NetKAL leadership development cohort. - Network of Korean American Leaders
